What happens if I cancel a booking with a dental professional?

Will I be charged a fee for canceling a booking with a professional?

Written by Cloud Dentistry

For dental offices

If you can no longer keep a confirmed booking, cancel through the Cloud Dentistry platform as early as possible. Whether a fee applies — and how much — depends on how much notice you give and what the situation is.

How to cancel

Cancel from your Bookings Calendar or the Temp Jobs tab. If the booking start time has already passed, the in-platform cancel button is no longer available — contact Member Services instead.

Late cancellation fee amounts

When you cancel less than 24 hours out, the fee is paid to the professional as compensation for holding the day:

  • $100 per specialist

  • $75 per hygienist

  • $40 per dental assistant or front office staff

A $5 Cloud Dentistry processing fee is added on top.

Turn Away Pay

If you cancel within 60 minutes of the start, or the professional arrives and is turned away, they're entitled to half of the booked hours, up to 4 hours.

If the professional arrives and the office is closed, they're asked to wait 30 minutes after the start time and try to reach office staff. If no one responds, they're eligible for Turn Away Pay.

If the schedule falls apart mid-day

If the professional has already started and you no longer need them — patient cancellations, schedule changes, etc. — they may be eligible for Guarantee Pay. See What is Guarantee Pay? for details.

Force Majeure / inclement weather

Cancellations due to severe weather or other Force Majeure events are handled differently and fees may be waived. See Force Majeure & Inclement Weather Cancellations for the full process.

Disputing a fee

If you believe a fee was applied incorrectly, contact Member Services with any supporting documentation. Cloud Dentistry reserves the right to determine eligibility.
