Finding the right professional isn't just about availability. It's about who is reliable and who has the skills & certifications your office needs. This guide covers how to search for professionals and what to look at on their profile before you invite them or accept their application.
Step 1: Start Your Search
Click the Professionals tab. You'll only see professionals whose travel radius includes your office. First, filter by type of professional (hygienists, assistants, dentists, front office, and specialists), date needed, language, and then sort by:
Recommended: based on Profile Score, your Favorites, and professionals who have turned on auto-accept for your office
Distance: closest to your office first
Hourly rate: lowest rate first
Last login: most recently active first
Newest: recently approved and eager to find work!
*Pro Tip: For dental assistants, you can add a filter for licensed (RDA) or unlicensed (licensed; yes/no). Otherwise, you'll see a mixture of both. For unlicensed dental assistants, we highly recommend filtering by certifications (i.e., DA, EFDA); see below.
For front office staff, you can filter to show cross-trained DA's or only front office staff (cross-trained; yes/no).
Step 2: Narrow it down with Advanced Search
Click Advanced Search for more filters:
First name: If you are looking for a specific temp
Skills: self-reported skills and how proficient they say they are
Certifications: choose one or more. Every certification listed has been verified by our team.
Background: keywords, for example, "pediatrics"
Response time: only professionals who respond quickly to booking requests and messages
Max days since login
Max miles from your office
Hourly rate: a range or a maximum
Favorites: only professionals you've favorited
Cross-trained: front office and dental assisting
Auto-accept: professionals who have favorited your office and will automatically accept your requests when you give more than 24 hours' notice
Malpractice insured: reviewed by our team before approval
Step 3: Review their profile before you book
Click a professional's name to open their full profile. These are the key things to check:
Profile Score. This is the best single measure of reliability. It rewards professionals who respond within 12 hours, complete the bookings they accept, log in often, earn high ratings, and keep their profile complete. Late cancellations and no-shows bring the score down sharply. For the full breakdown, see Understanding Professionals' Profile Score.
Ratings & reviews. See star ratings and written feedback from other offices. Look for patterns such as punctuality, chair-side manner, clinical skills, and how well they fit into a team.
Booking history. The number of bookings they've completed on Cloud Dentistry shows their experience on the platform. A new professional with fewer bookings can still be a great fit; however, there just isn't history to gauge their reliability or office fit. Send them a message to learn more! Take a look below at the details of a seasoned temp versus a temp who has not yet worked through our platform:

Premium Stats. If your office has Premium Stats, you'll see extra performance insights on professionals' profiles, which help you compare candidates side by side. 💬 Have questions about this feature? Reach out to our Member Services team!
Step 4: Reach out and book
Send a booking request through Find A Temp or starting with a specific temp's booking calendar (How do I send booking requests?)
Message to ask questions, request a resume, or confirm details
Use a working interview if you're thinking about hiring permanently (Cloud Dentistry Hiring Guide)
Favorite great professionals with the heart icon after a booking goes well. They'll show up higher in your results, and they may turn on auto-accept for your office.
Steps 3-4 still apply and are highly recommended when reviewing applicants to either an open temp or permanent job posting.
